Recap: UFC: Waterson v Hill

 Recap: UFC: Waterson v Hill

UFC Vegas 10, The Morning After: Michelle Waterson vs. Angela Hill exceeds expectations - MMAmania.com

Grade for Event: C

Picks Record for Event: 6-5

Waterson v Hill: A super close fight goes Waterson's way. I had Hill winning 3-2 but it was very close. Both girls should keep their head up high because it was a good and competitive fight the whole way through. Hill was doing good work with her punches and takedown defense. Waterson was finding success with her kicks and the times the fight was on the ground.

Herman v Rodriguez: This fight was a complete screw job and neither fighter is to blame. For those who didn't watch the fight, Rodriguez was teeing off on Herman for the whole first round and majority of the second round. Toward the end of that round, Rodriquez hit Herman with a clean body shot that dropped him. The ref, Chris Tognoni, thought it was an illegal nut shot and stopped the fight to give Herman time to rest. The replay clearly showed the strike was clean and legal but because the ref stopped it, Herman was able to take the full five minute recovery. He then came back in the third round and ends up submitting Rodriguez. People who blame Herman for using all of his time have never been in any high level competition of any kind. It is not his fault the ref made any awful call and these guys have families to feed. Getting a win bonus is huge for a fighter so I will never look down at a fighter for taking advantage of anything. Dana White said after the fight that it was one of the worst things he has ever seen in reffing and that Rodriguez will still get his win bonus.

Best of the Rest: Azaitar looks like he will be a problem at 155lbs with a KO of Worthy in the first round. Billy Q looked good and scored a clean third round KO of Nelson to stay undefeated in the UFC. Kevin Croom, the biggest underdog on the card, comes in and knocks Roberts down and slapped a choke on to get the tap in the first thirty seconds of the fight. It took Croom 13 years to get his shot and he made it count. Jalin Turner also put in a great showing submitting Weaver at the end of the second round. Romanov stayed undefeated with an impressive will in his UFC debut.
