Khabib Nurmagomedov says father has COVID-19

Grade for Event: A

Picks Record for Event: 6-2

Nurmagomedov vs Gaethje: 155lb Title: Khabib retires at the top. Something that everyone dreams of but very few people actually do. He said he promised his mother that he would not fight anymore after the death of his father. He put on one of the best performances of his career. After a competitive first round, Khabib took him down, mounted him and put him to sleep with a triangle choke in the second round. At the post fight press conference, Dana White said that Khabib broke his foot and two toes about three weeks before this fight. That even more solidified his GOAT status for the not only the Lightweight division but pound for pound as well. I do think there is a very small possibility that in a year or two, when fans are allowed back in arenas, that we may see him back in the octagon for a big fight but I wouldn't bet on it. This now opens the Lightweight division for everyone at the top of that division. I would love to see a four fighter tournament of the top four at that division to decide who becomes the next champ at 155lbs.

Best of the Rest: Robert Whittaker got a good win against Cannonier. He has put himself into a great position to get a rematch against Izzy for the Middleweight Title. Volkov has a great performance versus Walt Harris, TKOing him with a body shot in the second round. Phil Hawes made a statement with a 18 second first round KO in his UFC debut. Lauren Murphy got her first ever submission win with a second round rear-naked choke. She should get the next crack at the 125lbs title after the Shevchenko fight at UFC 255. Magomed Ankalaev made sure there was no don't this time and finished Cutelaba in serious fashion with a first round TKO. Tai Tuivasa got back into the win column after his KO of Struve in the last seconds of the first round. Rakhmonov and Maverick both had great debuts getting first round finishes. Finally, Alvarez opened the card with his second straight first round submission victory.
