Grade For Event: B+

Picks Record For Event: 3-3

Hermansson vs Vettori: 185lbs

Marvin Vettori, 27, got the biggest win of his UFC career last night in a unanimous decision victory over the 4th ranked Jack Hermansson. The two fighters combined for 286 significant strikes landed, which is a new five round Middleweight record. The pace was fernetic from the start. Vettori got the best out of most of the striking exchanges and even dropped Hermansson with a nasty one-two, more than half way through the first round. The second round looked a lot like the first with Vettori controlling the pace and stuffing most of Hermansson’s takedown attempts. In the third round, it started to look like Vettori was slowing down and Hermansson was the one controlling the striking exchanges. At that point, momentum had looked to have shifted toward Hermansson, but Vettori got back on his horse, and controlled the rest of the fight in the fourth and fifth rounds. The judges scored it 49-46 on two scorecards and 49-45 on the other. Vettori (16-3-1, 6-2-1 UFC) will surely get ranked in the top five after this win and he puts himself right at the top of the heap of the Middleweight title picture.
